Sidney Morgan 3.4

She is, without a doubt, the coolest thing I've ever created in my lifetime. Full of sass and spirit, she's the epitome of my dream daughter. We're both really excited about her becoming the "big sister". I can only imagine how cool it would be to grow up with her as my older sister; lord knows I'm loving life with her as my oldest child.

fluffy bunny

I'm feeling super tired, but super happy at the moment. Busy and full and wild and wooly. It's a huge mix of emotions - which would all be present anyway on top of all these crazy pregnancy hormones. I just want to curl up with something soft and warm and endearing right now. It'd be so nice to take a little break from reality...

Photo dump time!!! Let's do this thing:

Best suprise gift my husband gave me in 2010!

I tried to find beauty downtown where I work, even though it just reminds me of work.

Forever cute.

The girl was hungry, who could blame her!

Artsy fartsy.

Helping her Gran make cookies at Christmas.

My kid has mad make-up skills.

She needs an iPad. Anyone?
Thou shalt not judge my socks and ballet flats dress code.

Who has corrupted my child and turned into a Bingo lover?

giant case of the "blahs"

I don't know if it's the weather or my hectic schedule or what - but I haven't used my camera (other than a few Christmas photos) in what feels like months, forever. It's starting to really depress me. I'm hoping as we inch closer and closer to warm weather and spring and all the wonderlust that goes along with a new season I'll get the chance to get out there again and start snapping away. I might try to do a little photo-walk this weekend if I can manage it, weather be damned.

My classes start back this weekend, so it's another round of Friday evenings and all-day Saturdays at the college. I'll be very glad when December rolls around and I'm done, 100% finished with college *unless I choose to go further, but we'll see.

I just feel lackluster at the moment. Just kind of "meh" in general. I'm not updating here a lot, I'm not really do anything socially interactive, online or in real life. It's just kind of this cycle of work, home, work, home - Justin and I both are exhausted all the time. I just want to get out of this funk and into a more comfortable groove. I want a little pep back in my step. Call it what you will, I just want to feel like me again.

gilt free

I have a new-found love for Gilt - it's kind of amazing. And affordable, too. Here I was thinking how snobby and riche it looked, but all in all, they have some steals for deals.

We find out what the Nugget is (boy or girl? we're thinking girl!) on Feb. 8th - I cannot wait. The shopping will commence in full force - so if the internet is broken that day, sorry!

Have a good weekend.

social [media] awkwardness

I have officially marked myself the worst social media user of all time. In real life, I don't find myself to be an awkward human being. I'm fully capable of real conversations with real human beings - sometimes I even tell real jokes, you know the funny kind!

I can talk on the phone and text - I'm the same person on facebook that I am in my everyday life (or so I like to think). I don't find myself having two different personalities: the world I live in and the world I live online.

Yet somehow, online I'm awkward. Just plain old, fifth-grade, frizzy hair and glasses kind of awkward. Things I think are funny at one moment aren't really funny at all - they never really were to begin with. I feel compelled to intereact and comment on your blogs and try to be an interactive human being, but then I submit a comment and think to myself, "I sound like a total flipping idiot". And 99% of the time, I really do.

I say weird words and put smiley faces where there shouldn't be any. I try to be "hip" or down with the now crowd, but I suck at it. I'm a loser online. Hopeless, awkward, flailing around in such a ridiculous manner if I acted like this in real life, I'd have no friends! I'd be an outcast, a vagabond. A lonely girl.

Why am I so weird on the internet? Why does something someone says elsewhere sound clever, but when I say it, it just sounds lame. A joke gone totally flat. And it's killing me. So even though I just said the other day I don't make resolutions to better myself (in real life), I'm making a social-media resolution to better my online self and stop being so damned awkward!

boo resolutions

I don't make resolutions. It's never really hit me that I should make a list to try and accomplish within 365 days. I know enough about myself to know that I would wait until day 364 to even start working on my list. I am that much of a procrastinator, believe me.

But we are creatures of habit, and for some people yearly resolutions are needed, as essential as those "to-do" lists and grocey store lists some people make.

I choose, instead, to focus on what I would like to change about myself, if I could - and then I try to make it happen, if I can. I don't beat myself up about it. I don't make myself sweat bullets over coming up with a monumental list, designed to make myself a million times better than I was the year before. It's too much pressure, too much stress. I think resolution lists are unrealistic.

I say focus on what you love about yourself - improve what you can and don't worry about the rest. It's okay to change and to grow and to learn new things. But it's just as okay to maintain, to coast - to stay the same and love it. You don't have to re-do yourself just because it's the new year. You can still be the same old "you" and I wouldn't think any less of you.

I hope you won't think any less of me if I just keep on keepin' on.
