Don't Bother Telling Me to Grow Up: My First Declaration of Love for Norman Reedus

I don't think I've mentioned this here on the blog yet, so I'm just going to get it out there.

Completely random and pointless, but I feel like you need to be kept abreast of all my current obsessions. Because I know y'all live to read about that sort of thing, right? Right.

I have a deep, unwavering and newfound love for Norman Reedus. There, I said it. I'm obsessed. Just like those teenage girls falling over their feet for One Direction.

Norman Reedus is my One Direction.

It all started with the Walking Dead. Justin got into that show after watching season one on Netflix. I watched a few episodes but didn't really think much of it. Then, it just sort of grew on me. Now, we watch it religiously.

And from that show stemmed my love for Daryl Dixon (Norman Reedus' character, obviously) - and now, I spend too many minutes hours days looking through the archives of Tumblr and Google images just staring at this beautiful creature.
(source)
Let's face it, you can't NOT love him. And if you happen to not love him, well then, just move along. You and I can't be friends, sorry.

Night before last, a good buddy let me borrow The Boondock Saints - and now my life is complete.

I want to consume every movie, show, thing he's ever done - the good, bad and ugly. Because as long as Norman Reedus plays a part in it, it can't be all bad.

I think I've watched Lady Gaga's "Judas" video about 10,000 times now. It's not my favorite song, but hey, I'll give you one guess who's in it.

And I'm desperately trying to find some sort of convention within a 500-mile radius of me where NR will be speaking. Just so I can be a total fangirl and *maybe* someday get a picture with/of/near him. Any of him. All of him.

Yes, my husband is aware of my obsession. And while he may not understand, at least I've got his approval. As long as we get to keep watching The Walking Dead non-stop.

Yes, please. This scene here?

My god. I have a secret hope for Daryl + Carol. Justin thinks I'm crazy for seeing anything happening with these two. But I see it. It will happen. Sooner or later.

So, there you have it. My unabashed, completely ridiculous lovefest for Norman Reedus. Yes, I'm a twenty-three year old married mother-of-two. But I can still crush on celebrities like I'm 12 years old.

AND LOVING IT.

Feb 9, 2012

there's no point to this post, other than the fact that every now and then I like to smile like a goofy idiot

So, yeah, I'm just casually sitting here in my chair at home browsing the internet late at night. The rest of the house is completely quiet and asleep, as I should be, but there's internet memes to look at and tweets to read and gossip to be caught up on.

And while I'm innocently browsing around Tumblr, I stumble upon this site Old Love - and I'm in new love with Old Love because this is exactly the kind of time-suck I get into. No point to it, just love it.

And when I get to page 35 (yes, I went even further than that) I see a picture of Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling from the MTV Movie Awards way back when and then I can't control myself - I had to go over and watch the video and OMG:

And then I'm sitting in the dark living room, smiling the biggest smile my cheeks can handle - because DUH! it's sweet and I secretly wish these two would get back together every single day because, hello, have you seen The Notebook? They were meant to be.

Also, I'm a permanent 12 year old girl stuck inside this body.

So from there, I'm reminded of another time I sat in front of the TV smiling like a dork because another fictional-couple that dated in real-life were winning that same award several years later:

And I can remember being in the game room of Dobby's grand-mother's house in Florida having a total panic attack with full-blown hyperventilating because ZOMG, they were about to kiss and he did the hair ruffle and I have a soft spot for Kristen's nervous twitch thing.

And then they didn't.

And I died a little inside that day.

But it's stupid, silly little love things like these that make my heart soar with love and teenage hormones and a million other crazy feelings I love to feel. Some people may hate the cheesy things in life, but I LIVE FOR CHEESE.

Bring on the cheese, baby. I need it to breathe. And since V-Day is fast approaching, I'm stocking up on the sugary sweetness of love and life. We all need stuff like this to make us smile. And it moments like this that make me so happy I'm a girl and not some silly old boy who could never appreciate things like this.

Book in Review: The Hunger Games

Over Christmas I was able to jump on all kinds of shiny, new bandwagons!

I got a Kindle Fire (thank you, Momma)! And I bought some books (thank you, Husband)! And I managed to read one of those books (thank you, babies that nap)!

First up: I jumped on The Hunger Games bandwagon and proceeded to tear through the first book like my life depended on it. One word conclusion: awesomesauce.

Have you read The Hunger Games? How long did it take you to finish the other two books, Catching Fire and Mockingjay? I went ahead and bought the other two books so I can finish them at my leisure (which I'm hoping will be this long four-day weekend). I was tempted to start Catching Fire last night, but I knew I'd stay up way too late reading and there'd be hell to pay today.

According to Amazon, The Hunger Games is summarized as so:
In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Long ago the districts waged war on the Capitol and were defeated. As part of the surrender terms, each district agreed to send one boy and one girl to appear in an annual televised event called, "The Hunger Games," a fight to the death on live TV. Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she is forced to represent her district in the Games. The terrain, rules, and level of audience participation may change but one thing is constant: kill or be killed.
Things I liked about The Hunger Games:
-Nonstop, back and forth, good-old-fashioned suspense
-Love triangle
-Easy to relate to the heroine, who is from the Appalachian district that represents the coal mines
-The amazing way the author describes every single meal in the book
-Futuristic
-Easy to read and comprehend

I'm planning on starting Catching Fire tonight, and I'm sure I'll have you a quick recap then as well. I'm dying to know more about the relationship between Katniss and Peeta. What happens to Haymitch? I can't wait to read about that first meeting between Katniss and Gale! There are so many unanswered questions I have and scenarios to play out, what will happen next?!

Here's the trailer for the movie that opens March 23rd, 2012:

Side note: When I first heard Liam Hemsworth had been cast in this movie, I could've cared less. Then I read the book, and my heart cried, "No!" - he'll ruin the role of Peeta (my first worry was that they cast him as Peeta) and then the movie will be a dud and I'll be devastated. Luckily, he's playing Gale - which won't be such of a big deal in this movie, but if they make the next two books into movies, I have a feeling he'll have a much bigger part. I really hope he delivers, 'cause I have zero faith in the boy after watching that ghastly movie with Miley Cyrus.

So tell me, are you a fan of The Hunger Games series? Which one was your favorite? Will I be disappointed? How will it all end?!?!

wait, people go the theaters to see movies?

It's been awhile since I last went to the movies, maybe Paranormal Activity 2? I'm not sure...and it'll probably be more time yet before I go back to the movies. You know, new baby and all that. But I'm still trying to keep up with what's coming out to theaters soon, just in case something looks totally awesome enough to steal me away for a few hours.

(Sidenote: I'm a huge movie fan, can't get enough of them - good, bad and in between. I have zero problem going to the theaters alone if I have to, like I did the third time I saw Avatar, because I'm that big a movie fanatic. I've been catching up on the classics, like Gone With the Wind and An Affair to Remember via Netflix while I'm home on maternity leave!)

Here are some movies coming out in the not too distant future that have caught my eye - what are you excited about seeing soon? Anything I have to/need to see - new, old, whatever? I love movie (and book) recommendations!

Twilight: Breaking Dawn (Nov. 18th)

Well, duh! Anyone who's ever read this blog should know about my obsession with all things Twilight.

Three Musketeers (Oct. 14th)

I'm not in love with 3D movies, so hopefully I can find one that isn't - but OMG, I love this entire story, every version ever made of this story (although the Kiefer Sutherland.Charlie Sheen/Oliver Platt/Chris O'Donnell one is my favorite!) and I'm really in love with Matthew MacFadyen after watching Pride & Prejudice one too many times lately. SO. EXCITED.

Our Idiot Brother (Aug. 26th)

How cute is Paul Rudd?! And I love Steve Coogan (been mad for him since I watched Hamlet 2) and Zooey Deschanel (hello, Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy!), so this movie looks like a win-win for me. Plus it comes out on my Mom's birthday, so maybe she and I can have a girl's movie date!

Grave Encounters (Aug. 25th)

Holy crap, this movie has just about everything I love in a scary movie! I love the style of these movies, have ever since the original Blair Witch Project came out. And I love anything to do with abandoned buildings, specifically mental institutions. This is a win/win kind of movie for me, one I've definitely got to go see with Dobby!

Brave (June 22, 2012)

It'll be awhile before this comes out, but I can't wait to take SidMo to see it - it's the first Pixar animated film to feature a female lead and heroine! So excited!

Glitter Sunday

Just 'cause.

Why can't there be performers like this nowadays? I mean, without the whole child pornography scandal stuff.

slightly sappy

One really awesome perk of maternity leave? The opportunity to watch lots of awesomely good (and awesomely bad) movies!

I've spent way too much time enamored with "Mr. Darcy" and Pride & Prejudice (hello, Matthew Macfadyen) - it's my constant companion during the 3AM feedings. Earlier I cried all over RJ watching Steel Magnolias. I just knew that my girls would be leaving me tomorrow for some man to get married and leave me forever. Totally irrational. I also finally got around to watching My Best Friend's Wedding, and I know I'm only 14 years late. But ohmigod, do I love it or do I love it?!?!

I think it's the post-pregnancy hormones or something. I'm a puddle of love and mush and total girly sappiness, which is completely not me. I'm the anti-chick flick kind of gal. Most of the time. But who can resist this:

Bring on the campy and the sweet and the cheesy. I'm ALL about it these days!

fat chicks need love, too

Sing it like you mean it, ladies. For serious.

PS I love this song but had forgotten how ridiculously bad this video is - I've been cracking up all morning watching it on repeat!

guilty pleasures

....Mamma Mia and just about any musical-movie (Rent, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, Chicago, Nine, etc.) it's kind of embarassing, but I get really excited when I meet someone who shares my love of musicals!

...Reese's Pieces - they are so addictive. Sidney and I can eat an entire bag in one night if we don't watch ourselves!

...spending my Friday nights alone watching said musicals and eating Reese's Pieces (when I should be cleaning the house and eating something a little more friendly on my stomach)

Have a good weekend, my guilty little friends (I know you all have secret guilty pleasures, too!)

face of my facebook (now with fixed link!)

I've had my same Facebook account for four years (technically, this December will be four years). And today I got a little sentimental going back and looking at the 120+ profile images I've had over these past four years.
And since I'm feeling sentimental (and I don't have extra time/effort to post anything of real meat or merit), I'm going to share these past four years on Facebook profile pictures with YOU!

2006
Justin looks hairy; I look scary

2007
What you can't see is the big belly underneath!

There's the baby belly!!!

Sidney's first Christmas (on facebook)

2008
The dream job I always wanted in school (movie-rental store? wtf!) and then only kept for about three months, ha!

Kissin' cousins?! more like inappropriately touching cousins (I joke, I joke) Dobby & I are just very comfortable with each other..wait, that still sounds perverted! dammit! YOU KNOW WHAT I MEAN, RIGHT?

In this town, you gotta be willing to kiss a little ass (jackass, that is)

Our first Halloween spent together - and that lemon lollipop is all SidMo ate all day and/or night!

2009
This makes me miss my long hair...sort of.

The most beautiful sleeping babe...ever

Y'all know what that is!

2010
Turkey leg = GREATEST FOOD EVER

Back in the snow that never went away - all winter long!

Summer '10 - it's been blissful thus far...

So yeah, I'm one of these people that could never delete my Facebook. There are too many memories, too many pictures (that I don't have saved to backup yet) and to even think of getting rid of them makes me very sad.

And because I love you (and trust most of you) here's the link to my Facebook page. If I know you as a faithful blog friend, I'll add you. If not, sorry Charlie.

trail of bread crumbs...

So, you know how it goes. Someone links to something on Twitter. And you "click".

Then they link to another blog, which links to another site, which might finally (after ten or so clicks) take you back to the source of all things wonderful that originally caught your attention.

And in doing so you've wasted/endulged yourself in an hour of blog-traveling. It happens all the time.

And to cut down on some of the breadcrumbs for you, I'm just going to quickly share what I've found recently following the trail of blog links and sources.

It started with this tweet.
Which led me to her blog post.
That made me click over to this source.
Where I ended up in retro, kitschy, glamorous, gay heaven.

And you know what?

I had fun visiting every single one of those blogs - so much fun, I went about 20 pages in each damn one of them!

Seriously, blog-hopping can be fun. It's like bar-hopping, only without the next morning migraine.

So follow the breadcrumbs, see where they lead. Who knows where you'll end up next!

cuddle up

I am not a cuddler. At all. In fact, I'm such an anti-cuddler I usually enjoy having Sidney sleep between Justin and me so that there's zero chance at cuddling. I want him on his side of the bed, under his own blanket, using his own pillow. I don't want his arm on me or his leg flopped over on me (which he *loves* to do) or him spooning me.

No, I want none of that. Call me crazy, it's okay. But I'll wear the "no cuddling" badge proudly, seeing as how I'm probably one of the only girls in the world that despises cuddling....

99% of the time.

There are some nights, however, where the only place I want to be is wrapped up with my husband. I want his body to form to mine and our hands and legs to be twisted in so many ways he becomes me and I become him. For our noses to be touching, our breathing to become rhythmic. There are some nights, once in a blue moon, when I want to be a cuddler. It doesn't happen often, but the nights it does, my husband always obliges (I think he's a serial closet cuddler).

Last night was one of those nights. Sidney was gone for the night, I came home late (after watching Eclipse again), and Justin was already asleep in bed. Maybe it was the silly romantic movie or the idea of actually sleeping alone in our bed together, but I was lovedrunk. I wanted to cuddle. And cuddle we did.

And it was the sweetest.

Sometimes I feel weird talking about my relationship with Justin with you all. It's easier to talk about parenting and Sidney, but I feel like I'm toeing this precious line with what I share about my marriage. Shouldn't that be backwards? I should feel more wary about what I share about my child, right? Maybe it's because at this point, I know Sidney and I won't ever have a conversation about what I wrote on my blog today. And sometimes Justin sends me text messages or starts a conversation with, "don't put this on your blog, okay?".

But he never said I couldn't talk about the cuddling. And oh, the cuddling.

Jun 29, 2010

today is the day, or rather tomorrow is the day

Or should I say tonight at midnight is the day?

Whatever.

For all you Twilight loving individuals out there, you know that Eclipse comes out tonight at midnight. And yes, I'll be one of the millions of gals going out to the theater tonight - with my three best girlfriends and my boss.

Tomorrow will be painful at work, yes I know. But it will be worth it just to see the "tent scene" tonight. I fully expect to spend the next week talking and drooling over and fantasizing about Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner).

Because you know he's 18 now. And I can do that legally as much as I want to (ain't that right, Spoke?!)!!!

RAWR.

guilty pleasure!

I don't know if you can even consider this country. It's more pop, but isn't most country that way these days?

And I hate to admit it, because it's just so "uncool" but I love this song. The video is cute, too. Although those are the most stringy and fake looking hair extensions I've ever seen in my entire life. And I'm not 100% that Laura Bell Bundy *really* sings/talks like that. And I kind of think she looks like a younger, blonde Delta Burke....but I digress.

It's a guilty pleasure of mine listening to this song, but I'm sharing it with you hoping that you might get hooked on it, too, and then we can sit in the corner listening to it together - feeling equally ashamed of each other!
