Our Christmas*
If it weren't for my sister-in-law there'd be no photos of our family from Christmas. Seriously, I never took out any of my cameras, my phone, nothing. We had present-opening sessions for three days straight at a dozen different places, and I still didn't take a single photo.
I also didn't tweet or update my Facebook status or spend time browsing around online. I was 100% in the moment every single time the girls opened a gift or we sat down to eat or just hung out on someone's couch. And that part was really nice, I'll admit.
The girls were once again very lucky (read: spoiled) and our house is full of wonderful gifts and treats. RJ really got into Christmas this year - she loved unwrapping all that paper (what kid doesn't?!) and saying, "more, more!" Sidney got everything on her wish-list, which is incredible, because I'm pretty sure her wish-list was about three pages long this year!
Christmas as a parent is a hundred times more fun than Christmas as a kid ever was, in my opinion. I just can't wait to do it all next year with our three kiddos!

meet beau.
Today we brought home a new addition to the family -- miniature Schnazuer, Beau. He's 12 weeks old and absolutely too adorable for words!
He's an early Christmas surprise for Sidney, who'll meet him this evening for the first time. I'm hoping to get it all on video so I can share it with you later. I hope she loves him; Rhealen already thinks he's the funniest thing to watch. Every time he whimpers or barks, she just collapses into a fit of giggles.
Part of me thinks we're absolutely crazy for bringing home a puppy right now. I've already panicked about sleepless nights and interrupted naps. But I know, in the long run, the girls will adore him. And he'll be out of the puppy stage as quickly as the rest of our babies grow. For now, we'll enjoy his little puppy naps and milk teeth and sweet puppy breath!
Welcome to the family, Beau!

our kind of Christmas
...Sidney has presents scattered across our entire house, and the entire county.
...I've eaten so much steak, ham and turkey over the last two days I feel like my insides might explode.
...We woke up to a white Christmas, the perfect kind of powder that is awesome for sledding (if we did that kind of thing).
...We're watching The Grinch, the new one with Jim Carrey - which is pretty darn close to the original in it's amounts of awesomeness in my little opinion.
...We finally got a new couch (thanks Mom & Peanut) so it's actually enjoyable to be in the living room once again.
...Our TV died earlier last week; we went from watching our (borrowed) 32" flat-screen to this (gifted) 13" old-school job. I hate to whine, but this is me whiiiiinnniiing.
...We let one of our dogs in for the night, we would've let the other one in - but he's missing in action at the moment.
...It's been an amazing day of gifts and food and family and all-around wonderful(ness).
...I can only hope your Christmas has been just as wonderful! MERRY CHRISTMAS

happy first day of winter
I really hope this sort of thing doesn't happen again. I'm perfectly content to have a not-white Christmas and deal with the snow and ice some other time. We've got too much traveling to do this weekend to be dealing with bad weather.
Even if it's "pretty to look at" bad weather.

going, going, gone
Sidney and I are headed off to Columbia, TN this morning for the annual Cantrell Christmas at my grand-parent's house (Mom and Peanut are escorting us, since I still can't drive 'til April, and poor Justin has to work all weekend!)...
I probably won't post this weekend, unless I manage to get a minute to hop on the computer (or figure out how to blog from my phone)! I'll have to play catch-up big time when I get back, so don't write anything too amazing or I'm afraid I might miss it...
I'm going to send you away from my blog this morning - a good buddy of mine found out yesterday she's having identical twins! Mrs. B was due about two weeks after me, but I'm guessing she'll go before me now that she's got two babies cooking in there!! Please go tell her I said "congratulations" - there's so many sweet gals I know having spring/summer babies, it's going to be awesome getting farther and farther along with them (I'm 12 weeks this weekend, yahoo - first trimester done)!
Have a wonderful weekend & I'll see all of you on Monday...

just another random, rambling list
-Everyone at our house is sick. Luckily, Sidney is the least sick of the three - but still, snot reigns supreme at our house.
-I haven't bought the first Christmas present yet. Christmas is only what, 25 days away? No big deal.
-My house is a disaster. I had it mostly cleaned up over the weekend, and now it's slowly creeping back into chaos. I've got to stay up late and get it cleaned.
-Sidney and I are going to Columbia, TN next weekend for Christmas with my Dad's side of the family. And I still haven't bought the first freaking present.
-I go back to the neurologist tomorrow. Hopefully they'll release me and let me drive again. I'm going to go crazy if I have to remain in the passenger seat until April!
-I want to put together a little holiday wish-list of cute things I've found while "window shopping" online. There really are a ton of amazingly awesome things out there on the www!
-I may be freaking out a little that I haven't bought any presents yet!
-The "Nugget" (as I have dubbed this baby) is doing so good so far. I've been feelin good, although my appetite is so weird. I'm either hungry or I'm not. Hours can pass by and I want nothing to eat - then all of a sudden, I'm ravenous. Then I may not eat again until the next day. I'm trying to tell myself the baby's got enough fat to live on in there 'til my appetite gets straightened back out.
-I really miss my girlfriends. I feel like it's been months since I've seen them. It probably has been close to a month, in reality. That's just depressing.
-I should probably go Christmas shopping this weekend, don't you think? Yes, I guess I should.

MERRY CHRISTMAS
From Our Family to Yours,
Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas
There will be no Etsy Treasure Hunt this weekend - we are still without power and I know everyone will be busy with holiday doings! Look for next Friday's theme soon: I'm thinking of going with either diamons of Twilight (two of my favorite things) - what do you think?

not the best Christmas week ever
I don't want to delve into the subject too deeply because I don't want to sound like I'm whining. I'm a lucky lady, I know that. I have many blessings and I count them daily.
But still yet...Justin got laid off Thursday. We've been expecting it for awhile, but now that it's here the reality of it is surreal. We'll make it through. We might be spread thin and Christmas might not be all we were hoping it'd be for SidMo, but she'll understand. We have each other and that's all that really matters. In the end, that's all that will ever matter.
We're also part of the local community dealing with the rolling power outtage. It's been off since Friday; luckily we were in Columbia until yesterday. Not so lucky for us is the thought that the power might not be turned on until AFTER Christmas. Maybe if we open presents in the dark, SidMo won't notice Santa was kind of puny this year. Maybe not.
No matter though, we're perservering. We will have a wonderful Christmas, celebrating our family and our friendships. SidMo will love the gifts she gets and the time she'll spend with everyone. Even at 2-years-old I think she knows part of the reason for the season (even though she was understanding and excited about Santa and "presnits" this year). I am hopeful for the future. I know Justin will find a way to provide for us through everything. We will overcome this bump in the road the same way we overcome everything in our life: together as one, bound to each other by love, hopeful for tomorrow and all the promises a new day can bring.

Christmas Wish-List (3rd Edition)
IS MY HUSBAND PAYING ATTENTION?!?!?!
I want THIS necklace from Figs & Ginger:
Seriously...it has to be said that is one of the cutest family necklaces out there. I dare you to find a "family of three" necklace cuter than this one (no, seriously, I double-dog dare you)!!! And the best part? You can add little birdies with each new addition (read: more babies!!!!!!!!)

Christmas Wish-List (2nd Edition)
A cardboard fireplace for those of us who are unlucky in the home decor department? Yes,please. Too bad it doesn't come with a matching cardboard mantlepiece!
My very own piece of clothing from Carol Hannah's (Project Runway's 2nd runner up) ETSY shop? Yes! Yes! Yes! This is my personal favorite:

I want a pair of Levi's, again - thanks to this commercial. I also want a used copy of Walt Whitman's work - also thanks to that commercial. (O you youths, Western youths, So impatient, full of action, full of manly pride and friendship...)
An eco-friendly, alphabet calendar that both Sidney & I can enjoy? This is perfect.

There are so many more pretties out there. I'll take them all, thank you!

Christmas Wish-List (1st Edition)
I'll take one of these adorable keyboard covers; who wouldn't want one of these?!
Honestly, how amazingly awesome is this?!?! I think I spent a good ten minutes chuckling over this thing; it's so neat! Great colors, great little graphics - just pure genius! I want one for my laptop at home and for my computer here at work.
Christmas present? Yes, please!
