When I have to go to the bathroom, I usually say "I gotta go potty" because I'm cool like that.
I know every word to every song to every opening segment for the Backyardigans, the Wonder Pets, Dora the Explorer, Diego, Yo Gabba Gabba, Wow Wow Wubzy, Max & Ruby and Pinky Dinky Doo. And yes, I sing them - everytime...sometimes twice in a row. Because I'm cool like that.
I say things like "dotdog" and "gink" and "Nidney" when I talk to Sidney, even though I know every parenting book tells you not to encourage baby talk, but I do it because I think the way she says it is adorable. I do it to encourage the baby talk because I know one day soon it'll be long gone...because I'm cool like that. (By the way those words are hotdog, drink, and Sidney FYI)
I have the same conversations every day: How old are you? What color are the trees? What sound does a duck make? What is your name? What's my name? What's our dog's name? Who is Dora's friend? Does a cow say "baaaa"? What does a cow say, then? And I never grow tired of them - because I'm cool like that.
I adore morning snuggle sessions, because I finally have someone to snuggle with who doesn't immediately comment on the state of my dragon breath. I am uninspired to jump up and brush my teeth anymore, because I am cool like that.
I spend more time picking up toys than I do picking out my clothes or what to cook for dinner. I spend more time sorting books and shirts and socks and baby dolls because I know at some point she's going to want one specific thing like her baby doll with the paci attached or the Dora shirt - not the pink one with Boots on it, but the white one with Boots on it. And I do all of this for her neurotic needs, because I am cool like that.
I call my fiance, my lover, my boy "daddy" sometimes in a totally 100% non-sexual way. In the beginning it was weird, but now it's just second nature. Usually the only way he can tell it's me yelling for him is because I can actually pronounce the two D's together in "daddy" and Sidney can't (she calls him something that sounds like da-eee), because I'm cool like that.
I could live out of my car - my mother would tell you I could have done that years before I ever even had Sidney, but now it's only worse. I should say "we" could live out my car. There's diapers, clothes, shoes, toys, books, balls, hairbrushes, papers, pens, money, boxes, bags, and more galore stuffed in my little HHR. And I never clean it out in case I need one of those random things, because I'm cool like that.
I think about life and death completely different now that I'm a Momma - my life is fuller and more meaningful. It makes me really selfish of myself. I don't want to die - ever. I think I'll just keep living on forever so I never have to die; that way I never have to be away from my baby girl. I wouldn't say that I ever wanted to die before, but I really really REALLY don't want to now. But even so, I live my life so that when my time is up, my daughter knows exactly how much I have loved her from the beginning...because I'm cool like that.
I am happy. I find happiness in everything now. I owe that all to my daughter. She's made me the crazy, happy, silly, wild, proud, smiling person I am. She is it, folks. Look what she has done to me - she's made me "ME"...because she's so cool like that.
